International Neurological Conference 2008 - Perth

The NCWA has received some seed funding to research the feasibility of holding an inaugural international neurological community-focused conference in Perth in 2008. This would provide an opportunity for all parts of the neurological sector to participate and share information and experiences relating to neurological conditions.

While it is anticipated the conference would include science/research streams, participants in these streams would be encouraged to present critical research findings in a lay-understandable format for members of the community, families and people with neurological conditions.

Other proposed streams include social, psychological and allied health aspects of neurological conditions, rural and remote services, the future role of neurological NGOs, and issues such as future planning for accommodation, respite and support services for the sector.

The conference would be used to build international networks of people interested in developing closer working relationships between families, patients, clinicians, researchers and specialists – all parties involved in the disease process who are interested in building models of support and care that are in the best interests of the patients. It would also be an opportunity to concurrently hold an expo for all players in the sector.
