Counselling, Information and Advocacy
If you would like to talk in confidence about the challenges of living with your condition or caring for someone with a neurological condition or just need a reassuring voice at the other end of the line, the Neurological Council’s sympathetic and experienced staff are here to assist with practical and listening assistance.
The Neurological Council of WA has skilled and knowledgeable staff and access to comprehensive resources to assist you with information about neurological conditions and associated services.
Whatever your need – whether it relates to information about your condition, an explanation of neurological terms, how to go about accessing practical assistance, social support, peer support and/or recreation opportunities; or just having someone to advocate on your behalf - our sympathetic and understanding staff will be able to assist you directly or refer you to the right place to access the assistance you need.
The Neurological Council is committed to protecting the rights and needs of persons with a neurological condition and their carers. To this end, we advocate on many levels to raise awareness and interest within Government and the general public.
We can advocate for you individually with service providers within the health and community care system and with equipment and other service providers to assist you to get the services you need.
We also advocate for the broader neurological community by raising awareness of neurological conditions through public and Government forums, by collaborating in professional education, by advocating for positive change to health policy and increased funding for services, and by supporting research and fundraising for services for people with neurological conditions and their carers.
