With profound sadness, we acknowledge the passing of our valued Executive Director and colleague, Adjunct Associate Professor Kathleen (Kathy) McCoy RN, BSc(Hons), DipHEd(Neuro), PGCert(Bus), MSc(Neuro), PhD Candidate.
Kathy worked as a nurse for over 25 years, including as Neurology Nurse Practitioner at The Walton Centre UK, and at NCWA for almost 12 years. She advocated for those living with neurological disorders or symptoms to improve their functional status and health quality of life. She was instrumental in setting up the Neurocare nursing service at NCWA to make neurological healthcare equitable and accessible for Western Australians.
We remember Kathy as a colleague who was intelligent, kind, hard-working and passionately committed to nursing and patient care. She was a dedicated mentor and was known for her willingness to provide practical and emotional support to novice nurses transitioning to community nursing practice. All benefited from her guidance and advice, regardless of where we were in our professional lives.
We offer our sincere condolences to her family and close friends at this difficult time and to all those whose lives were touched by this remarkable woman.
Vale Associate Professor Kathleen (Kathy) McCoy RN.
