Advanced clinical care for people living with Motor Neuron Disease (MND)
The Neurological Council offers specialist Motor Neuron Disease (MND)
nursing and nurse practitioner services to support people living with
MND, their families and carers access the right care, at the right time,
close to home. Our services operate as part of a multidisciplinary network
of health, disability and community support, helping people understand
and manage rapidly changing symptoms and needs, maintain quality of life
and retain functional capacity and independence for as long as possible.
Many of our MND services are free, statewide and available through clinic
appointments, home visits, telehealth and outreach services.
Our Nurse Practitioner-Led MND Clinic, proudly supported by FightMND, provides advanced assessment, treatment and clinical nursing care for people living with MND. Working closely with treating neurologists, GPs and other clinicians, our Nurse Practitioner helps bridge the gap between specialist appointments.





Anyone living with or caring for someone with MND is welcome to access the Nurse Practitioner-led MND clinic, or access support through the statewide NeuroCare community neurological nursing service.

A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced clinical training and postgraduate qualifications. Nurse Practitioners are authorised to:

Diagnose health conditions in collaboration with a patient’s GP and neurologist

Prescribe medications

Order and interpret tests

Develop personalised treatment plans

Provide ongoing education and support

The Nurse Practitioner-led MND Clinic is based at The Niche, 11 Aberdare Road, Nedlands, within the QEII Medical Centre precinct. Our central location makes it easy to access quality, community-based care close to major health services.
For those unable to attend in person, telehealth appointments may also be available, ensuring people across Western Australia can benefit from specialist MND support without the need to travel.
