Neurological Peak Body

As Western Australia’s peak body for neurological health, we champion improved recognition, prevention and management of neurological conditions. Through advocacy and collaboration with professionals and organisations across research, health, disability and aged care, we work to advance brain health and influence positive systems change.
We do this through the following areas.
We actively collaborate with organisations with a common purpose to create collective impact through ongoing communication, research, mutually reinforcing activities, sharing resources, advocacy, and sector representation. We convene quarterly Community Neurological Leaders Forums for Perth’s community neurological CEOs and senior delegates to come together, explore common issues, challenges and opportunities, and consider our role in implementing relevant aspects of the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and other Neurological Disorders 2022-2031 (IGAP) within Western Australia.

We aim to identify, strengthen, and amplify the voice of people impacted by neurological conditions to influence policy, plans, legislation, and funding.
Over the past 18 years, the Neurological Council served on the Neurosciences Health Network, which was highly successful in developing many important strategies, policies, and guidelines to establish state-wide services.
Major achievements include:

We also host the biannual Australasian Neurological Sector Conference and Expo to promote understanding through cross sector collaboration; and strengthen and enhance neurological health, wellbeing and related health and disability care across our region and beyond.
Collaborate with government, business, research organisations, and community stakeholders to advance the availability of multidisciplinary and multisectoral neurological services.

We promote brain and neurological health through awareness campaigns, content creation and public engagement — including our bi-monthly NeuroNews e-newsletter, social media communications, and key initiatives like the biannual Australasian Neurological Sector Conference and Expo. Our focus is on translating complex neurological information into accessible messages that inform, empower and connect.
